Friday evening and I just discovered a show that's playing tomorrow night that I probably won't get into because it will be sold out or some such shit. I could try to annoy some people, yank some strings and get a ticket ahead of time but I'm hesitant to do so. But fuck... it's Boris, Warhead and Slight Slappers!! Rock and the Sweden are also playing. I really want to go to this show but I'm afraid of going all the way to Shibuya, searching for an unfamiliar club and waiting in line only to be turned away at the last minute. I dunno. What would you do?
If I do get in I'll be taking pictures and they'll likely be the last that will go on the site for a long, long, looooooooooooong time. After I put up the other old pics, that is.

I lucked out and got a reserve ticket so I'm going. Photos to follow for those that might be interested(and still even visit here). I've got a second memory card for my camera so I can take tons more than usual. Rest assured, I will take advantage of this. Stevie hasn't been to a show in a while. I won't be held accountable for my actions this night.

Yes, Goul. Lot's of action. I got lots of pictures tonight, mostly of Boris and Slight Slappers. Really though, this show fucking sucked. Worst goddamn crowd EVER. This was the first Slight Slappers show I had ever been to where not a single person in the crowd moved beyond a slight head nodding. Fucking pathetic. I would have slammed a few people if it weren't for the several women that were front row center. Normally this wouldn't deter me from unleashing hell but after the show at Urga where Jonas shoved me into some poor girl enjoying the music and rearranging her internal organs into a scattered jigsaw puzzle, I've been a little gun shy around the 80 lb. people. I just stood back and took pictures.
The line up was entirely backwards. Boris, Slight Slappers, Warhead, Rocky and the Sweden and some fucking shit "Pizza of Death" band that made me want to go on a killing spree because they sucked so bad. Flip the line up and the show would have been "perfect". Boris does not open shows, fuck you very much. Slight Slappers do not play anything except the headlining position, fuck you once again. This was just wrong, all wrong. I left after about 3 songs of the last band. Fuck Pizza of Death records. This band blew full, rotten, unwiped ass and the lame ass crowd that came to see them ate it up like it was some fancy french pastry. I'm sick of shit mainstream labels that sign no talent fucking "underground" punk/hardcore bands and over publicize them so that all the sheep buy their records in order to fall in proper line and then rape the ears of discerned listeners like myself and then play shows with real bands with real talent for the genre and basically shove them under the carpet while doing so. My fucking pussy hurts.
I did finally get to meet Enju from Inoxia records and thank her for all the help she's given me, including getting me into this show, and I got to talk to Atsuo, drummer of Boris, about their upcoming releases. A one song album in the vein of their spectacular "flood" album and a live DVD. Meeting and talking to these two people, even though it was only for a few minutes combined, made my night. Awesome.
Photos will be up when my lazy ass says so.

This is one of the things i kinda like about shows here is that the headlining/opening band thing is often completeley unpredictable.most of the time in osaka order is decided by a quick game of janken/or pick the longest stick or whatever.Boris seem to be a bit too trendy/fashionable/art schol for my liking.I'm probably completely wrong but thats the kind of vibe they give out..were they the reason for the dull crowd or is that usually not the case?I'm guesing warhead(who MUST have stirred up the crowd..i'v seen em 100 times and they never fail) were invited up to tokyo by rocky and the sweden for this show(they did a tour together last year)I cant imagine that Boris would"ve.I need to go to tokyo again soon.Gauze/Nice View show tomorrow..can i be bothered?probably not.

Band playing order is usually decided by the individual bands here too. Whoever feels like playing whenever, but the band footing the rental fee for the club equipment usually gets first choice.
A Boris crowd is hard to classify. They have a broad spectrum of fans from all genres of the underground and above. I'm a died(pun) in the wool metal/grindcore fan and I fucking love Boris' music. Doesn't really fit maybe?
As for this show, I'd say 70% of the crowd was there to see The Genbaku Onanies(pizza of death band). and the remaining 30% an even mix of Boris doom fans, Slight Slappers thrash crowd and Warhead/Rocky crust punks. As far as how much the crowd moved to each band, in order of greatest movement to least: Onanies, Boris, Slight Slappers, Warhead, Rocky and the Sweden. And keep in mind that this was a pretty slow crowd. Every Slight Slappers show I've been to has been a fucking melee of frantic proportions. People just sort of stood and jerked in place during their set. Like their U.S. counterparts, Tokyo crust punks go to shows to be seen and smelt, not felt. They just stood around at the back of the club with their arms crossed during the whole show, taking a few steps closer to the stage for Warhead and Rocky. Boris got the most people concentrated in front of the stage but the Onanie fuckers got the most retards hopping around like idiots.
This was a Pizza of Death show. The Genbaku Onanies headlined, it was their show and most of the people there showed up to see them. Like a typical borderline mainstream label, PoD put together an eclectic group of bands to help spread the joy of the Onanies. Drone/Stoner Rock, 80's style Crust and Fastcore Thrash meets fucking shit punk. And of all the bands that played which didn't fit? The Genbaku Onanies. At least that's my opinion. PoD footed the bill, asked a bunch of great bands all legends in their genre to play a free show and possible make some dough in the process.

I firmly believe in washed out bands going the way of the dodo. Signing onto big labels kills a band anyways soundwise(see razor's edge). And I've got problems with old bands trying to cash in just to make a few new bucks. It's degrading to them and the fans. Whatever they once were, they suck now.
Gauze, if they keep it up, will be next. At least they still rock the fuck out of people. Old farts.
I dunno why people don't post here that much either. some new people have joined but I think there's only about 4 of us that ever post or reply. Oh well..... I'm sure it'll pick up.

There's no traffic because everything's too... nice?
A(nother) sad reflection on humanity, that. Conflict is the engine that seems to drive internet message boards... trolls... wankers (FUCK, I have to stop doing this stupid "3 dot" bollocks at the end of each sentence... it's appalling...).
Perhaps it takes a certain period to get things ticking over? Would love to read some dissertations/social theory (horrid term) on cyber cultures. Any links?

Discord and dissension are the fuels that keep online communties going. That and sex and racism. We could talk about sex... I guess??
Um.... so.. how about the male to female ratios at shows, huh? Pretty nice seeing so many fine ladies...
Fuck............. this isn't working.

If it's too big for the dimensions allowed just cut it down until it looks even. Experiment.

Yeah, I don't really think Gauze would ever keep playing after they start sucking(which all bands unfortunately do after enough time passes). Pizza Of Death is basically the Epitaph of Japan. A signed contract and a tight grip around the creative testicles. The bands make some money in the short term but lose fans and end up sounding like shit because the label ends up with too much say-so on their new "sound".
