speaking of simon bartz whats Brian Burton Lewis like? i've seen a couple of things he's dome on space show tv & theyve not been too bad Are you talking about the guy that hosts the Megolomanics show on Space Shower? I can't stand that guy either... My wife used to like watching his show because he would often interview bands she likes. I've seen 3 of his interviews(Asian Dub Foundation, Kottonmouth Kings and Assfort) and all of them were horrible. Asian Dub was okay but he just acted like an idiot and you could tell the two guys were getting a bit pissed at him for being such a dork. When he did the Kottonmouth Kings he was a simpering idiot amongst a gaggle of fools. The band was making all kinds of derogatory comments about the Japanese and being plain sexist jerks and he sort of just sat there and agreed with everything they said to make it seem like he was as "cool" as they are. The assfort interview was a debacle from the getgo seeing as they were trying waaaaay to hard look like the punk rawk gods they thought they were at the time. This is back when they tried to break out of the scene and released that cd on a big label and put out a really fancy and expensive music video on J-Mtv and Space Shower. Another interesting thing about Brian. When I saw him do the interview with ADF and KK he mentioned, and in the former interview actually played, the Slight Slappers for the bands and asked them what they thought about them. Of course they were all a little taken aback by it, being rather fast and harsh music, but none of them seemed too impressed. This Brian guy goes on about how great Slight Slappers are and that he's good friends with the band. I always found that rather funny so one night at a Slight Slappers show I asked members of the band if they knew him. They said they knew "of him" but never actually met him and didn't seem interested in doing so. I told them that he's always pimping their band on Space Shower and they all made little shocked-disgusted faces and said that that's not good. Most Japanese seem to hate this guy too. At least the one's I know do. He's the vocalist in a wanna-be Limp Bizkit rapcore group. They suck, of course.

Is he the Moby look-alike chap with the wee red mohawk?
If so, saw him interview the twat from Korn. Gave the impression of speaking bloody good japanese although when he switched to English he was almost as insipidly, syco-phucking-phantically lame as his guest.

Of course, the only thing that Brian fellow has going for him is his Japanese ability. I'm partial to one of the J-VJ's that used to be on MTV. She spoke fluent English as well and did a Japanese instructional show with some other Japanese guy on NHK(may still do this). I would get a job at MTV just so I could hook up with her.

Why do you watch this Brian Burton Lewis guy if he is such a loser? I mean, I don't think I'd want to watch some Limp Bizkit Wannabe interviewing posers like Korn and Kottonmoth Kings.
Is garbage like ICP and Kottonmouth Kings popular in Japan? I thought it was only popular with white trailor trash? That shit is a whole new level of crap.

The only one of those interviews I chose to saw was the Assfort one, and it was the last. The other two were because my wife was watching it at the time. I think Kottonmouth Kings were touring Japan at the time. Thankfully we no longer have that channel.

Funny how this is a Melt Banana thread but I've got info pertaining to two other items that came up here. Kottonmouth Kings played here a few weeks ago. One of my friends is a fan of theirs and went to try and meet them in Shibuya the day they were playing there(she suceeded) and I was in the neighborhood so I joined her. We usually just hang out around there anyway and drink so this was no different, only we hung outside of Quattro for a half hour or so before their show started. While I was there I got bombarded by a few groups of people thinking I was in the fucking Kottonmouth Kings. I dunno what these guys look like but I don't think I resemble any of them. There were other foreigners around there too and they didn't get fucked with. Either way, it sucked so I got out of there quick. I felt violated. Anadorei played Saturday night and Simon showed up. I was sitting outside with Makiko from FID when he walked past us into the club. She doesn't like him because he was an asshole to her once(someone introduced him to her once and he replied "who's this girl??" in a pompous head up your butt kinda way) and also the shitstorm he started up with Erieza from Anadorei in his interview with them. It was funny to hear her get all frustrated about this guy. I told her to bottle it up and write a song about it. Anyway, during Anadorei's set Simon was right in front of Erieza getting into the music and she stood there glaring at him in between songs. Near the end he started leaning over the bar trying to touch her or something and she just started kicking him. It was fucking hilarious. I don't think she made much physical contact but you could tell the dudes pride was hurt. After the band got off stage he looked pissed and ran over to talk to Erieza but got held back by the other two girls in the band. He grabbed his friend and left a few minutes after that. What a cock.

...and going back to the original topic ( )... Melt-Banana are my favourite band ever and all that crap... and Cell-Scape is actually my favourite of their albums (no, it's not the first MxBx I owned/heard, that was Charlie). Fucking AMAZING, in my opinion. For anyone who cares and doesn't already know, they're playing Shinjuku DOM on the 30th of this month with Colored Ricemen, Forward and From Hell. I can't remember who's where on the bill, though.
